Whether it’s riding the waves, exercising outdoors, playing with the kids or simply enjoying the glorious summer weather, too much sun exposure presents risks for Australians of all ages.

As Cancer Council Australia launches its latest range of sun protection products, Australians are being urged to adopt a sun-smart lifestyle and protect themselves against the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays.

“Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with more than 430,000 new cases each year,” said Cancer Council Australia CEO, Professor Ian Olver. “Sun protection needs to be part of our everyday routine and Cancer Council’s range of products has been carefully designed to make looking after ourselves in the sun easy, practical and fashionable.”

Cancer Council’s high quality and affordable product range includes sunglasses, UV protective clothing, sunscreens, hats, beach shelters, swim goggles and cosmetics with sun protection and has been designed to protect against the harmful effects of the sun and reduce the risk of skin cancer. For ultimate sun protection, Cancer Council Australia’s message is Slip, Slop, Slap, Slide and Seek.

Slip on sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible and acts as a barrier to the sun. Cancer Council’s range of protective sunsuits, shirts, jackets, swim shorts and beachwear for children and adults offers an ultraviolet protection factor of UPF50+.

Slop on SPF 30+ broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen. Cancer Council’s range includes Everyday, Active, Sport, Insect Repellent, Work and Toddler in a variety of sizes. Cancer Council’s face creams, tinted moisturisers, foundations, lipsticks and moisturising lip gloss also offer SPF30+ protection.

Slap on a hat that protects face, head, neck and ears. This season’s range of fashionable and functional hats means there’s something for the whole family, with a variety of styles including wash-and-wear, straw, bucket-caps and legionnaire hats.

Slide on a pair of stylish Cancer Council sunglasses, which offer the highest level of eye protection. The range includes cool styles for the kids, colourful designs for babies and toddlers, and more sophisticated options for adults.

Seek shade with Cancer Council’s variety of sun cabanas and marquees.

All royalties received from the sale of Cancer Council’s sun protection merchandise help fund cancer research, prevention and patient support services.
