Ingredients

  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 225g chocolate buds
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup castor sugar
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg, grated
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

 Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C and line your tray with foil, give it a spray with cooking spray and place to one side.
  2. In a small saucepan melt butter and chocolate on LOW.
  3. Once melted add eggs and vanilla essence and beat to combine.
  4. Add sugar, flour, nutmeg and baking powder, stir well to combine them pour into oblong baking tray (20cm ´ 31cm).
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven, cool on wire rack then cut into portions when cool.

Notes

  • This is a great recipe for kids of all ages to help with and doesn’t take very long.
  • Make sure your melted choc and butter isn’t really hot otherwise your egg will begin to cook low heat is always best for melting chocolate.
  • When I bake I try to use large eggs and if they are not available I’ll go up in size instead of down.
